In mythology, if you sliced off one of the Hydra’s eight heads, two more would sprout up in its place. From Sweden, Electric Hydra seem to have taken that idea as a kind of a working principle: after a few relatively quiet years, the band returns not just with a new single but with the promise of a full album: From the Fallen.

It’s not something they stumbled on recently; it’s been chasing them for years. Dennis Åhman wrote it right after their 2020 self-titled debut (Majestic Mountain Records/Tee Pee Records), and it survived lineup changes, two studios, and three different titles.

El vídeo de “Scent of Blood”, dirigido por Jacob Hellenrud, acompaña la canción sin sobreexplicarla. Con su lema de “flames, fury and fashion”, podría haberse quedado en un eslogan, pero Hellenrud lo lleva más lejos: fuego literal, sí, pero también un concepto estético cuidado, casi performativo, donde Carita, la protagonista, encarna el mensaje de la canción – tomar lo que deseas con fuerza total – sin caer en el arquetipo o la pose.
