La verdad es que no suenan como un grupo que busque zonas de confort. Desde que se formaron en Dortmund, Alemania, en 2008, el trío ha tratado el stoner metal menos como una identidad fija y más como una estructura que pueden seguir moldeando (basta con escuchar su debut Parasight de 2020 y el EP instrumental Dammbruch).
In fact, they don’t sound like a band interested in comfort zones. Since forming in Dortmund, Germany in 2008, the trio has treated stoner metal less as a fixed identity and more as a structure they can keep reshaping (check out below their 2020 debut Parasight and the instrumental EP Dammbruch).

“The Great Machine”, el primer adelanto de Violet Skies, se estrenó el 12 de diciembre con un vídeo dirigido por Ansgar Wojahn. El tema evita la tentación fácil de golpear fuerte y rápido. Tiene un groove firme, una presión constante, pero la canción se va abriendo poco a poco, dejando que la atmósfera se filtre donde otras bandas simplemente subirían el volumen. Da la sensación de que está más diseñada que desatada.
“The Great Machine,” the first track to surface from Violet Skies, was released on December 12th with a video by Ansgar Wojahn. It avoids the obvious temptation to hit hard and fast. The groove is firm, the pressure constant, yet the song keeps opening sideways, letting atmosphere seep in where a lesser band would simply double down on volume. It feels designed rather than unleashed.
Stargo unite everyone from rock-loving hippies and stoner freaks to die-hard metalheads for a collective headbanging ritual under the lava lamp.
Violet Skies, el cuarto y autoeditado álbum de Stargo, llegará el 13 de febrero. Producido, grabado y mezclado por Robin Stirnberg y masterizado por Dennis Koehne, el disco amplía su rango sin difuminar su identidad. Es música pesada que entiende de ritmo, de textura y, sobre todo, tiene claro que más no es siempre mejor.
The self-released Violet Skies, due February 13, will be STARGO’s fourth album and appears to be a clear step forward in how they shape their material. Produced, engineered, and mixed by Robin Stirnberg, and mastered by Dennis Koehne, the record expands their range without blurring their identity. This is heavy music that understands pacing, texture and the value of knowing when enough’s enough.
A lo largo del álbum, algunos temas se apoyan en la voz, otros dejan que los riffs y las melodías cuenten la historia por sí solos. El orden de las canciones refleja ese ese juego de fuerzas opuestas: a veces avanza con una intensidad sólida, a veces se relaja, dejando espacio, repeticiones y una evolución lenta. Esa contención forma parte de su encanto.
Throughout the album, some tracks ride the vocals, others let riffs and melodies tell the story. The sequencing mirrors that push and pull: at times driving forward with grounded intensity, at others loosening; favoring space, repetition and slow evolution. That restraint is part of the point.
Violet Skies se siente más como un mecanismo cuidadosamente diseñado que como un estallido en bruto. La batería, el bajo y la guitarra encajan con el peso y la regularidad de una máquina bien engrasada, mientras que las teclas y los giros melódicos introducen otra dimensión. Es música pesada, sí, pero también medida, que avanza con paso firme.
Violet Skies feels closer to an engineered mechanism than a raw outburst. The drums, bass and guitar lock together with the weight and regularity of a solid machine, while the synths and melodic detours introduce a different dimension. It’s heavy music, but it’s also measured, moving steadily forward.
