Ben Nichols, líder y compositor de Lucero, anunció su segundo álbum en solitario, “In the Heart of the Mountain”, que se lanzará el 25 de julio. El álbum es uno de sus trabajos más personales hasta la fecha y marca su primer lanzamiento en solitario en 16 años desde el aclamado “The Last Pale Light in the West” de 2009. El álbum presenta a Nichols solamente con su guitarra acústica así como el solo ocasional de guitarra eléctrica y percusión. En el disco está acompañado por Morgan Eve Swain (The Huntress and the Holder of Hands, The Devil Makes Three, Brown Bird) al violín y coros, Cory Branan con las guitarras eléctricas y acústicas, y Todd Beene (Chuck Ragan, Glossary) al pedal steel y guitarras eléctricas. El álbum fue grabado en el estudio Southern Grooves en Memphis, Tennessee con Matt Ross-Spang como ingeniero de grabación y mezcla.
